Band members Nic Evans, brother Richard, and Simon Hunter, originally established themselves on the Midlands circuit as Gilbert Grape with drummer Ian Davies 3rd right, joining in 2002.

Nic and Simon previously enjoyed success with another Shropshire band, Loosehound Drifters contributing song writing credits to their debut album.
Ian last performed with London based band The Satyrs, who were signed to Eurythmics Dave Stewart's own Anxious Records whilst Richard originally studied classical guitar before concentrating on double bass.

The gilberts have since performed at various prestigious venues including Ludlow Festival and London's Kashmir Klub.
